Upcoming events.
Community glass collection events are based on the previous collection and the amount of extra processing (removing metal and plastic labels) and total volume of bottle donations. Keep in mind that this project is run by one family, out of their garage; it is a volunteer service, not a business. That being said, we try to post collection events at least 2 weeks in advance so you don’t miss them.
Community Glass Collection at the Goldstream Farmers' Market
We will have a space at the indoor Goldstream Farmers’ Market to bring clean glass jars and bottles smaller than a wine bottle size. Please, make sure they are free of plastic labels and all metal. I will also bring my TOO CUTE TO CRUSH collection, free for the taking!
Collection AND Demo Event
Community glass collection and crushing into sand on site. Sand and sandbags will be available to take for a donation.
Earth Day Fair and Makers Market
We're a group of volunteers - local organizations and residents working to bring a variety of fun and engaging events to the Fairbanks, AK community this Earth Day.
Glass Collection Event & Composting Collection
Glass collection event at Ken Kunkel Community Center.
Sustainable Living Expo
We will have a Too Cute To Crush Exchange table at the Sustainable Living Expo! You may BRING your TCTC items for exchange or TAKE from the collection. The Expo is for local businesses/organizations that provides services and/or products that offer opportunities to incorporate renewable and recyclable alternatives. There will be services and demonstrate/describe how Fairbanks residents can benefit from using them. The event is free and door prizes from vendors will be given away throughout the day!
Too Cute To Crush Event -SOLD OUT!
UPDATE: WE GAVE AWAY TWO LARGE TOTES OF GLASS and left early! I just got the "go-ahead" to have a Too Cute To Crush event at the Bazaar this Saturday at the Carlson Center, hosted by the Tanana Valley Farmer’s Market! What is a TCTC event? As it sounds, it's where we bring out all of the glass bottles and jars that were just too cute that it would be a waste to turn them into sand! We will GIVE these items away at the Bazaar, right in the entryway. Please stop by and adopt some of our bottles and jars. Hopefully, this event can start a conversation about resusing materials and spur a larger re-use program.

Glass Crushing Demo at Green Star
We will be showing off our machine and product. Bring your glass to have it crushed to have it crushed on-site. Also, bring monetary donations to help us reach our goal of paying off the G.L. Sand Glass Crusher - we’re almost there! This will also kick-off our partnering with Green Star who has offered to be a distributor of our sandbags!
Co-op Market & Deli Demo
We will have our machine at the Co-op for customers to see how glass bottles and jars become sand in 6 seconds or less! If you would like to bring glass, make sure that it fits all of the requirements: clean inside and out, no metal or plastic rings or labels. Attempt to remove paper labels as well. You may also take sand home with you!
Goldstream Market
We have joined with the Goldstream Community Market and will have a space to collect glass at start of each market. We will also have glass that we considered TCTC (too cute to crush) and sandbags that you can take with you.
